How to disable folder browsing using index manager in cpanel

Hi friends !!! In this post I will explain how to hide directories i.e. folder browsing in our server.

 In general suppose if a website abc.com is there. He usually stores his files in abc.com/files

But his theme is he want to allow his users to download files from abc.com but files in the folder or directory files should not be visible to users. For this he should disable directory listing. If it is visible users will download all the files at a time without browsing website. We can solve this problem very easily.

First of all watch the fallowing video you can easily understand:

Ya its very simple.it can be done in another way using File Permissions .It can be done in two ways using index manager.

Step-1: Log in to your “cpanel” and go to “File manager”

Step-2: The simple way is for which folder you want to disable folder browsing/directory listing select that directory or folder. Right click there. Then there will be a pop up with options as “Manage Indices” click on that.

Step-3:  new page will be opened then select “No Indexing” options then click save. An new page will be opened and that confirms listing is off. So when ever user browses the directory or folder he will get the fallowing error.

Method-2: It can be done in another way just log in to your control panel.Then Go to Advanced chose "Index Manager" and fallow the same steps mentioned above

Method-3:Learn how toimplement this simply using file permissions

Though user can download files from directory but he can't access the directory. Its simple ‘n’ cool ….try dis and protect your files
